Stata Help for Econometrics, Health and Social Science Research

Stata is the workhorse of economics, public policy, epidemiology and much of applied social science. It is powerful, precise and fast, but only once you know the commands, the options and how to read output that assumes you already know what a Hausman test is.

I have tutored Stata users since 2014, from first-year econometrics students to doctoral researchers. I help you write clean do-files, choose the right estimator and interpret your results with confidence.

What I Can Help With in Stata

Data Management

  • Importing Excel, CSV and SPSS files; working with labels and value labels
  • Cleaning and transforming data with generate, replace, recode and egen
  • Reshaping between wide and long formats; merge and append
  • Writing organized, commented do-files and log files for reproducibility

Regression and Econometrics

  • OLS regression, robust and clustered standard errors
  • Logit, probit and marginal effects with margins
  • Panel data: fixed effects, random effects (xtreg) and the Hausman test
  • Instrumental variables (ivregress) and endogeneity diagnostics
  • Difference-in-differences and event-study designs
  • Count models (Poisson, negative binomial) and censored outcomes (tobit)
  • Time series: stationarity tests, ARIMA and VAR

Health and Survey Research

  • Complex survey designs with svyset and svy: prefixes (weights, strata, clusters)
  • Survival analysis with stset, Kaplan-Meier curves and Cox regression
  • Epidemiological tables and measures of association

Output and Reporting

  • Reading coefficient tables, F-tests and R² correctly
  • Hypothesis tests on coefficients with test and lincom
  • Exporting publication-quality tables with esttab/estout, outreg2 and etable
  • Professional graphs with twoway, coefplot and marginsplot

Who I Help

  • Economics and finance students in undergraduate and graduate econometrics courses
  • Public health and epidemiology students analyzing survey and cohort data
  • Thesis and dissertation candidates with panel or quasi-experimental designs (Dissertation Statistics Support)
  • Policy researchers and analysts needing defensible causal inference (Professional Analysis)

How Stata Sessions Work

We meet live via Zoom or Google Meet. You share your screen and work in your own Stata installation while I guide you, so you leave with a working, well-commented do-file, a clear understanding of your output and a recording to revisit.
